What are you byin'?

(Anyone get that? It's from Resident Evil 4 )

So we continue with product photography - part 2, if you like.
This time I shot pictures of a normal drinking glass (I was supposted to do that last time, but didn't get the time, so - this time instead) and I have to say - second time; muuuch easier and quicker and just....plain better. We've also been working on deep etching, which I really found out how to do today....through  a how - to - do - it tutorial I found on Pinterest....yeah. I'm not really good at understanding such things when teachers explain it and makes the class whatch while they do it.
It's so messy and I like to have a detailed explanation, in english (since the program is in english) and being able to take my time and go back or start over if I'd like to. That's just me.

But anyways - to the pictures!

The first one is from the first photoshoot - the lego lunchbox - which I've now deep etched.
I've got to say it turned out pretty great - A LOT better than I tought it would, that's for sure!

The second one, was shot with one lightsource and a reflector. Again, some basic changes in Photoshop (That counts for all the pictures) It turned out nice, but for a commerical picture....I don't know - thoughts?

The third was shot with two different lightsources at a 45 degree angle. Turned out pretty great if I shall ask myself.

The forth one; three different lightsources; the two in 45 degree angle, and another, placed right above the glass.

Fifth, and last one; Four (!!) different lightsources; the 45 degree angle onces, the one above and one beneeth the glass. (Or, beneeth the table that the glass stood on)

Latest Merry Christmas ever!

This has got to be the latest Merry Christmas ever - EVER! If it's not, then I wonder who else has got the record. I haven't had internet in like....more than a month now, and I still don't have it at home - but at school I do! So I'm posting this now - better late than never. I know the picture seems a bit...yellowish maybe - but I had to, if not the white furry edge of the santa-hats would've dissapeared into the background...and I'd rather have a little warmer picture than that. I haven't really changed it much, only some levels and curves and spot removing.
Now, enjoy the irony of a class, full of all kinds of people!
(I'm not in the picture, because the ones I were in, looked worse - not because of me, I believe.
No one stood still and this is the best one I got.)
Ta-daa, and the (possibly) latest Merry Christmas ever!

I could be the new IKEA catalog photorgapher! (just kidding...or could I?)

Today, like about...five hours ago, my class got an assignment from our photography teacher; we were going to photograph items, like we were photographing for like, let's say, the IKEA catalog.
Product photography. The items we got, were a lego lunchbox and a simple drinkingglass.
I only had about twenty minutes to use atleast four different lightsettings on each item, and well, I didn't make it. I barely finnished the lunchbox before we had to go back to the classroom.
Which sucks - a lot. But I got what I got, and since it only was ment as a try out round - since we've never really done it before - I guess it's okay. Had some trouble in the beginning, with the camera having spots on the inner lens, that we couldn't remove there and then.

I used Nikon D80 (I prefer D3200, though), ISO sensetivity on 160, and I varied the shutter and aperture a lot, according to the light settings, and I don't really remember exactly what I used.
Everything, including zoom and focus was on manual. (If someone were to wonder)

The first picture was taken with one lightsource and a reflector.
The second was taken with two lightsources, at about 45 degrees angle.
The third one was taken with two lightsources and a third lightsource, right above the item.
Aaaand...that's all I had time for.
I did photoshop them a tiny bit; using curves, brightness and contrast, and levels. Also, I removed some ugly, tiny spots that came from the camera lens.

(don't ask why the last picture is placed so wierd, it just didn't want to behave and I didn't care for arguing more with it than I already had; it's like that, and that's just the way it is folks!)

The keys are low

Long time, no see....of course school is always to blame, right? In my case it's actually true; school everywhere, non stop! I feel like I'm being pulled in directions at once by everyone, and it's a bit painful. But to help you understand the title and what this post is really about;

We've been shooting some "low key" portaits in studio at school. (Look it up if you don't know what it means) I love low key photos to end of the world and back and so on and so on, and I really enjoyed shooting them too...but! There's always a but isn't there? Well the but in this story, is that a lot of people are very, VERY shy. None of them dared do anything but smile and hide their faces in front of the camera, which is pretty anyoing. Okay, okay, I'll give in a little and say that the guy that was my model, he tried. Maybe I wasn't clear enough or something, I don't know - but I did get some nice shots, I did.

So this is the photo that I chose to use. I'm kind of happy with it, though i feel like he could've shown a liiittle more feelings.

Black & white

I had to! They look waaay better together this way. They do! Looook!

The Final collage!

A collage of the four photos. I feel like don't mix that well, but I can't really change them that much either.
